Schedule Details

Day 1 Arrival at Guwahati – Transfer to Shillong (100 kms| approx 03 hours drive)

Upon your arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, you will be transferred to Shillong, the “Scotland of the East,” located at an altitude of 4,900 feet. Enroute, you will visit Umium Lake, a serene and picturesque lake surrounded by lush hills, perfect for nature lovers and photography. On reaching Shillong, check in at your hotel. Spend the night in Shillong.

Day 2 Shillong Local Sightseeing

After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Shillong. First, visit the Don Bosco Museum (closed on Sundays), which houses an impressive collection of artifacts representing the diverse culture of Northeast India. Next, visit Ward's Lake, a charming man-made lake surrounded by beautiful gardens, ideal for a relaxing stroll. Then, explore the Botanical Garden, which showcases a wide variety of plants and trees from the region. Finally, visit Lady Hydari Park, a well-maintained park featuring a variety of flowers and beautiful landscapes. The evening is free for personal activities. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Shillong.

 

Day 3 Shillong – Cherrapunjee (60 kms|approx 03 hours drive)
 After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Cherrapunjee, known as the wettest place on Earth, located at an altitude of 4,400 feet. Enroute, visit the stunning Mawkdok Valley, known for its picturesque landscapes, and stop at Nohkalikai Falls, India’s tallest waterfall. Continue to explore Dainthlen Falls, which has a deep cultural significance, and visit Arwah Caves, famous for their limestone formations. Upon arrival at Cherrapunjee, check in at your hotel.Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.
Day 4 Cherrapunjee Local Sightseeing

Start the day early to experience the breathtaking beauty of Cherrapunjee. Visit Eco Park, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and hills. Continue to explore the spectacular Dainthlen Falls and the majestic Nohkalikai Falls, both set amidst lush greenery. Next, marvel at the Nohsngithiang Falls (also known as Seven Sisters Falls), a breathtaking collection of seven waterfalls. Visit the Mawsmai Cave, an impressive limestone cave with well-lit pathways. End the day with a visit to Thangkharang Park, which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the Bangladesh plains.

For adventure enthusiasts, an optional full-day trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge at Nongriat Village is available. The trek involves climbing approximately 3,200 steps each way, offering a rewarding experience upon reaching the unique bridge. You can also trek further to the Rainbow Falls, a beautiful sight located about 60-90 minutes from the bridge. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

Day 5 Cherrapunjee – Guwahati (160 kms |6 hours drive)

After breakfast, drive back to Guwahati, with a stop to visit Elephanta Falls, a hidden gem surrounded by lush green forests. Upon arrival in Guwahati, check in at your hotel. In the evening, visit Kalakshetra, a cultural center that showcases the rich history and heritage of Assam. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Guwahati.

Day 6 Guwahati Local Sightseeing

After breakfast, begin your sightseeing tour of Guwahati with a visit to the sacred Kamakhya Temple (timings: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM & 3:00 PM till dusk), dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya, one of the holiest Shakti Peethas in India. Then, visit the Tirupati Balaji Temple, a replica of the famous temple in Tirupati, followed by the Nabagraha Temple, dedicated to the nine celestial bodies. Explore the Assam State Museum, which displays the cultural heritage of Assam and the Northeast. Afterward, visit the State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, home to several species of wildlife and lush greenery, and the Regional Science Centre, an interactive science museum. End your day with a visit to the Sukreswar Temple, a sacred Shiva temple located atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the Brahmaputra River.

In the afternoon, you can opt for a Golden Sunset Cruise on the Brahmaputra River (direct payment). Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Guwahati.

Day 7 Departure from Guwahati

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.

 

Note: Accommodations in Cherrapunjee and nearby areas are basic but clean and comfortable, with limited facilities. Vegetarian food options may be scarce, especially in remote areas.
